The William J. McCord Adolescent Treatment Facility, which is operated by the Tri-County Commission, was founded in 1993 with a mission to provide support to families and individuals impacted by substance use. This center offers residential programming for teens 13-18 who have a primary diagnosis of a substance use disorder along with outpatient services for individuals ages 10-18. The McCord Center offers programming with 24-hour structured support for teens struggling with substance use. Length of stay is typically 5-8 weeks depending on severity and individual needs. The program emphasizes family involvement and offers weekly family sessions to work on issues like communication, trust, and boundaries. The program includes medical detox, evaluations, counseling, social/recreational therapy, spirituality services, and more. Youth do not have to be using substances to be eligible for outpatient services at this center. Services include assessments, individual, group & family counseling, case management, and crisis management for youth with concerns of anger, emotional outbursts, concerning behaviors at school, and more. They offer "The Bridge," which is an intensive program designed for adolescents 13-17 involved with the criminal justice system. They also offer a 6-week parenting group that helps parents enhance their parenting skills and receive support from other parents.
