Focus

This center primarily treats substance use disorders, helping you stabilize, create relapse-prevention plans, and connect to compassionate support.

SHAWL (Support for Harbor Area Women’s Lives) is a non-profit residential center located in San Pedro, California. It offers a 4-month structured program for adult women recovering from drug and alcohol addiction. SHAWL helps women heal from substance use, mental health challenges, and domestic violence while working toward independence and stability. Women take part in individual counseling, group therapy, relapse prevention, and life skills classes. Therapies such as art, meditation, anger management, and parenting support help women build confidence, manage stress, and prepare for long-term recovery. Their program includes unique services like job readiness training, HIV/health education, financial literacy, and “Strides in Recovery” exercise groups. SHAWL also offers referrals, court advocacy, and workshops throughout the year. These extras help women rebuild their lives, grow stronger, and stay on track after leaving the program.
