Focus

This center treats mental health conditions and co-occurring substance use. You receive collaborative, individualized treatment that addresses both issues for whole-person healing.

Nestled under a 700-year-old oak tree in rustic Buffalo Gap, Texas, Shades of Hope provides residential-care for eating disorders, mental health, substance use, and process disorders in a trauma-informed manner that identifies roots of pain behind the disorders and aims to retrain the body. During the admission process, their team focuses on the care request more than the condition. Their treatment team includes nurses, therapists, case managers, who make decisions as a team for individuals' care plans. The campus includes a recreation room and meditation spaces. Their program includes weekly structure with daily lectures, sessions, yoga, breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks on the weekdays. On Saturdays, Shades of Hope organizes weekly group lunches offsite and unstructured time at the site. On Sundays, Shades of Hope hosts visitors from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. After the first week of care, Shades of Hope will advise clients whether to continue for an additional 5 weeks or return to their support network. They provide recovery coaches to discuss ongoing recovery, and the recovery coach can coordinate a re-admission if needed. Additionally, Shades of Hope hosts workshops for emotional well-being and for breaking free from codependency.
