Located in the eastern New Orleans area, Oceans Behavioral Hospital Marrero is a mental health disorder treatment center that provides intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment for anger, anxiety, bipolar, depression, grief, OCD, PTSD, schizophrenia, self-harm, stress, trauma, alcohol and drug addiction, and co-occurring disorders. Their treatment methods include 1-on-1 counseling, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), group therapy, medication management, relapse prevention counseling, relaxation therapy, and 12-Step Facilitation. For client 20-62, they also offer a residential treatment option. Oceans Behavioral Hospital's psychiatric staff review progress and medications daily. The Oceans Healthcare STAR program at Oceans Behavioral Hospital Marrero supports active-duty military members, veterans, and family members with mental health challenges, such as combat stress and long separation from close relationships. Family members participate in group therapy with other military families with similar experiences. To enroll in the STAR program, clients need to provide a referral from the Department of Defense (DoD) or Department of Veterans Affairs. Oceans Behavioral Hospital runs numerous locations throughout Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, and Oklahoma. Many specialize in aging-related or military-related mental health conditions, and an increasing number treat mental health for adolescents. Many of the locations share resources with one or two other locations nearby. The Marrero location shares resources with the nearby Oceans Behavioral Hospital Bellemeade and Oceans Behavioral Hospital Kenner, which are collectively named Oceans Behavioral Health Greater New Orleans area. All three locations have the STAR program, but the other programs and clientele are different between centers.
