About Learn to Live

Learn to Live Recovery is an extended care and sober living facility which focuses on taking young men through the recovery process with an emphasis on finding purpose and positivity in life through community and experiences. Learn to Live's vision is “to reintegrate young men back into their communities and provide them with the tools of recovery that will stand the tests of time." They accomplish this vision by providing a unique program that is tailored to the client's needs. While each day has a schedule, clients will be able to choose their own activities. Each resident will have access to a gym membership and the option to participate in outdoor activities like sporting events, hiking, kayaking, fishing, and more. Learn to Live will also have several seasonal activities designed to build community including bowling, paintball, movies, and sports. There are 3 mandatory house meetings each week that the residents must be present for: 12-Step meetings, community meetings, and community activity. Weekly groups will include relapse prevention, vocational skills, cooking, budgeting, and educational support.
The Learn to Live home is surrounded by nature in the scenic area of Hermann, Missouri. The cabin-like home provides a warm, comfortable atmosphere conducive to healing. Bedrooms are shared along with cozy, spacious common areas that have an abundance of natural light and a beautiful view of the outdoors. Residents are expected to make their own bed each day, and chores will be designated by the resident coordinator. Residents are also responsible for purchasing and cooking their own meals.
Learn to Live provides compassionate staff and the healthy environment needed for growth and healing.

Evidence-Based Context: According to SAMHSA's National Survey on Drug Use and Health (2023), approximately 48.7 million Americans aged 12 or older had a substance use disorder in the past year. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) emphasizes that treatment programs combining behavioral therapy with medication-assisted approaches show the highest rates of sustained recovery. Facilities like Learn to Live provide structured pathways to evidence-based care. Sources: SAMHSA NSDUH 2023, NIDA Principles of Drug Addiction Treatment (4th Ed.)

Understanding Your Treatment Options

Choosing the right treatment facility is one of the most important decisions in the recovery journey. Research published by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) shows that treatment duration, therapeutic approach, and aftercare planning are the three strongest predictors of long-term sobriety.

Learn to Live offers 2 distinct levels of care, allowing patients to step through treatment intensities as they progress. This continuum-of-care model — moving from higher to lower intensity — is recommended by SAMHSA as the gold standard for addiction treatment.

The facility utilizes 9 evidence-based therapeutic modalities. According to NIDA research, combination therapy approaches that integrate behavioral interventions (such as 1-on-1 Counseling and Group Therapy) with holistic support show significantly improved outcomes compared to single-modality programs.

Under the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, most commercial insurance plans are required to cover substance abuse treatment. Learn to Live works with 24 insurance providers. Call (833) 567-5838 to verify your specific coverage and learn about out-of-pocket costs before admission.
