Focus

This center treats mental health conditions and co-occurring substance use. You receive collaborative, individualized treatment that addresses both issues for whole-person healing.

Heartland Girls’ Ranch helps girls ages 12 to 21 with trauma disorders, emotional and behavioral challenges, or who have experienced sexual exploitation. They offer safe housing, mental health care, education, and a unique equine therapy program. With two specialized tracks, the main program and Hearts for Freedom, the Ranch provides individualized support to help each girl heal, grow, and build a brighter future. Heartland Girls’ Ranch is grounded in trauma-informed and strength-based practices, using evidence-based therapies to address complex trauma and support long-term emotional healing and personal growth. Girls receive individual and group counseling, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), chemical dependency support, and daily therapeutic activities. Equine therapy helps girls build confidence, trust, and emotional awareness, while hands-on work with horses teaches responsibility and self-worth in a healing, non-judgmental space. Girls live on a working ranch with shared and private rooms, communal meals, and structured routines. Access to both indoor and outdoor riding facilities ensures year-round engagement with therapeutic equine activities. Travel to and from the Ranch is coordinated with referring agencies, ensuring each girl arrives with a plan in place for success. This caring environment encourages girls to feel safe, supported, and motivated to build a brighter future.
