About A Design for Living

This organization was founded and is operated by a man named Justin Coggins who desired to start a beautifully designed and luxurious sober living home for men. As he is 4 years into recovery himself, he felt the need to give men a place to continue their healing journey while feeling like their life is getting better and not worse. He partners with other sober men who are passionate about recovery to help manage the homes.
When men come to stay at A Design for Living, they have more freedom than they did in a treatment center. The men are introduced to 12 Step programs, where they can fellowship with other men in recovery. In addition to the support received from 12 Step programs, all the men engage in peer-led groups where they find additional accountability on their journey. They are also provided safe transportation and are given help finding job placements. They have 11 sober living facilities throughout middle Tennessee. The men can choose which home to live in based on location convenience.

Evidence-Based Context: According to SAMHSA's National Survey on Drug Use and Health (2023), approximately 48.7 million Americans aged 12 or older had a substance use disorder in the past year. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) emphasizes that treatment programs combining behavioral therapy with medication-assisted approaches show the highest rates of sustained recovery. Facilities like A Design for Living provide structured pathways to evidence-based care. Sources: SAMHSA NSDUH 2023, NIDA Principles of Drug Addiction Treatment (4th Ed.)
