Focus

This center treats substance use disorders and mental health conditions. You'll receive individualized care catered to your unique situation and diagnosis, learn practical skills for recovery, and make new connections in a restorative environment.

This recovery center is an off-shoot of MN Adult and Teen Challenge. This particular program is for boys ages 14-18 who are headed down the wrong path due to substance use and persistent behavioral disorders. The program offers a behavioral rehabilitation program with substance use dependency counseling and medical care, including an education that is both in-person and online. Additionally, the program offers project-based learning and incorporates the Christian faith into everything they do. They accept insurance for behavioral and mental health counseling services, but not for the therapeutic boarding school aspect of the program. When a teen comes to Lakeside Academy, they are given a thorough one-on-one assessment to determine what needs to be addressed and what goals should be created. During the first phase of treatment, the boys are introduced to God’s love and are given opportunities to create therapeutic relationships with the clinicians onsite. The second phase of the program is when the boys begin to examine the role they have played in making poor choices. They begin to get honest with themselves and go deeper into character development work with counselors. The third phase is when the boys begin to make amends with family members and friends in their lives and become consistent in their adjusted behavior. The final phase is when the boys create personal goals for their return back home and participate in relapse prevention counseling. These phases can take anywhere from 6-12 months in total, depending on the progress of the boy. During the phases of the program, the boys attend school nearby and also participate in project-based learning on campus. The program offers welding, vehicle repair, gardening, property maintenance, animal care, woodworking and more.
